Today, children and their families donated lots and lots of food to school to recognise Harvest and help families in need. The children kindly brought in tins, packets, jars and tubs of different foods to donate to our local food bank. The children in year 6 then bagged it all up and hand delivered it to the Open Door centre in Colne. Getting the food there was very tricky and everyone was completely weighed down! We even had tins rolling down the street at one point because of a split bag! The children had to use their muscles to get the 30 bags of shopping there in one piece.
When we got to Open Door, the staff there were very grateful. The children filled a whole corridor with the bags and one lady said she had never seen so many donations! The children all said that they felt the tricky journey was worth it to know that someone might be helped by the donations. Well done West Street families and friends, you have done such a kind thing today!
