Our first topic was launched today with the arrival of two war veterans, Eddie and Jimmy, who made all of us jump by surprising us in assembly. They marched into the hall before coming to a swift “HALT” in front of the children. We found out a little about where they had served before they set us a task. With this year being the centenary of the end of WW1 we have been asked to produce some relevant art work that will be displayed in the British Legion and possibly the Town Hall. Classes have also been set a history research project to find out as much as they can about WWI and how it affected life locally.Whilst with us Jimmy and Eddie had us all marching and very kindly presented our first Star of the Week certificates. Those children receiving them did a good job of marching to the front. Both gentlemen are hoping to join us for our Remembrance Assembly on 9th November and to come and judge the displays.
Class 9 have already made a great start on what they would like to find out and have come up with some brilliant and respectful ideas about how to remember those who did lose their lives.
