Class 5 welcomed their new pets today- three stick insects which they have named Amelia, Lola and Dave. They rehoused them, from the plastic container used for transporting them to school, into a netcage. They set up the habitat providing damp paper towels for moisture and privet for them to eat.
We are hoping they will lay eggs and we can watch the new insects grow! Ask anyone from Class 5 how we know the stick insects are mature and ready to breed.
Scientific observations are all the more interesting with live subject matter! Class 5 are looking at what creatures need to survive. This follows on from their study of animals and plants and their habitats and will lead into the topic of micro-habitats, which they will investigate in the summer months.
