A two and a half hour journey along narrow, windy roads took us to Eskdale – a stunning area of the Lake District surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Everyone was impressed with the youth Hostel as we approached it and couldn’t wait to see inside!
After eating our lunch, we split into two groups to do archery and rock climbing. Everyone loved the archery and some people were surprised at how good they were!
The rock climbing was challenging, but everyone had a go and overcame their fears and had a really good try.
In the evening we played lots of games in the grounds, until the midges took over! Then, we played inside the hostel.
The following day we faced our biggest challenge – climbing a mountain! It was a difficult climb up Harter Fell, but we all made it to the top and felt very proud of ourselves and a bit exhausted!
Everyone had an brilliant time – including the staff! It was particularly lovely that staff and other members of the public staying at the hostel all commented on how well behaved, polite and well-mannered our children all were. It was an amazing few days where everyone had fun and challenged themselves to achieve new goals.
