Communication with School

Communicating with your child’s teacher.

At West Street we strongly believe that effective communication is one of the keys to a successful journey through school. As such we have an open door policy that extends from nursery through to Y6. We actively encourage parents to come into school when dropping off and collecting their child/ren.

At this point parents and staff can quickly inform each other of minor aspects, that can then be dealt with quickly, or make an appointment for anything requiring more time.

It’s not always possible for parents to give this time so we also have these following means of communication between staff and parents:

  • By phoning the school office.
  • Through our class Dojo scheme; a reward scheme that enables parents to engage and to message teachers.
  • Via staff school emails.
  • Regular newsletters.
  • Through our website.

As well as face to face and by phone call school can communicate with parents quickly through our texting system, Teachers2Parents. This allows us to inform you of changes to arrangements in school or reminders for events.

From time to time the school will send out various letters informing parents and carers. A copy of all of these letters for the current academic year can be accessed below. An archive of 2016-17 letters to parents can be viewed also. Please also see our newsletters.
