Last week Class 9 had the opportunity to learn some vital First Aid skills. Our instructor, Sandra, came from the British Red Cross to help the children understand what they can do to help if someone is injured.

We looked at a range of scenarios and injuries such as head injury, seizures, bleeding and burns. Once they knew the correct treatment, the children acted out the different injures and how to help someone in that situation.

We also learned how to put an unconscious casualty into the recovery position.

Finally, we were show how to use a defibrillator to help someone whose heart has stopped.

It was great for our year sixes to gain an understanding of these essential life skills! Thank you to the British Red Cross for providing the training.
