Over the last few weeks, class 7 have been learning about Diwali and making their own lamps for the festival of light. The children have been collecting facts about Diwali, which is mainly celebrated by Hindu and Sikh people.  We have learnt how people welcome the Goddess Lakshmi, who is the Goddess of wealth and good fortune.  People light the way for the Goddess using diva lamps, which they place around their homes.  Diva lamps are one tradition associated with Diwali, though there are many others.  The children have also learnt about meditation, which is sometimes a part of the Diwali festival, and we conducted our own meditation ceremony.  Class 7 have had a fabulous time learning about Diwali and they presented their diva lamps in assembly this morning.
