Friday evening may have been a bit drizzly weather wise but the glow from the lanterns made up for it. Twenty one children, from nursery to Y5, and accompanying adults from West Street took part in the evening walk to raise money for Cancer Research. Starting from Colne and Nelson Rugby Club the group joined over 100 people to walk 5 km through Alkincoates Park. The route was lit by magical tea lights as well as the lanterns, torches and glow sticks carried by the children. Earlier in the week some of the children had made lanterns from willow and strong tissue with LED lights inside. David’s certainly did light up the night sky!

Once they completed the walk children and adults were treated to a hot chocolate and the children all received a medal. Well done to all of them and thank you, on behalf of Cancer Research, for the money raised.
