What was it like in a World War One Trench? Well Class 6 have been investigating today as they continue to learn about World War One.

Mr Filder challenged the children to investigate two trenches in the classroom and while they kept their heads down under the bombardment of bullets they searched the trench and discussed what they thought the objects they found were and why they were there.

Once all of the objects were discovered, we tidied up the classroom and the children shared what they had found, which included; a rat, a diary, a periscope, corned beef and a sandbag. Further discussion and a recording of solider reading from his journal taught us lots more about life in the trenches. The children labelled their own diagram of a trench and started to write some super sentences to describe the different objects found in a trench.
