Today we recognised World Down Syndrome Day by wearing odd socks; all different , all the same. This is part of Down Syndrome Awareness Week and earlier we watched a video explaining a little about what Down Syndrome is. We all learnt that babies with Down Syndrome are the same as every other baby except they have 1 extra chromosome – 27 instead of 26. The video showed a little girl, one of triplets, who was doing EVERYTHING her sisters were doing but with a little extra support. Caroline Hargadon, one of our parent governors, visited school with Brody, who has Down Syndrome. He entertained everyone as all babies do.To raise money to support children with the syndrome Caroline sold sock shaped biscuits, wrist bands, badges and key rings.
Well done to everyone who showed their support for such a worthwhile cause.
