Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 were all treated to an interesting, interactive talk by Nurse Jolly and Sergeant Powell. Year 2 were engrossed when they had their turn to try on uniforms, examine kit and even be carried on a stretcher, just like a soldier injured in battle. The children were fascinated to see a real WW1 gun and other weapons, as well as medical equipment used by nurses and medics in the trenches and war zone. They looked at the food soldiers would have eaten and they even looked through a genuine periscope that soldiers would have used to look at the battlefield from the safety of the trenches.
