Yesterday, year 3 and year 4 visited Ribchester Roman Museum as part of their history topic.
The children had a chance to tour the museum and study some of fascinating things which had been found in and around Ribchester. These included everything from coins and leather used to make tents to nit combs (including Roman nits!) to jewellery.
Children even had the opertunity to try on some of the armour which Roman soldiers would have worn whilst they were stationed at the fort. It was REALLY heavy!
We also managed to visit the ruins of a Roman bath house. We saw the evidence of a Roman hypocaust (underfloor heating) and the open drains!
The children were all brilliantly behaved and were a credit to the school!
