The start of our new term brings us to our new topic, looking at signs of Spring. We have investigated, both in class and outside, what we might expect and see to show us that the new season is here. We have noticed that there are lots of new plants, flowers and leaves appearing on the trees. We have lots of very beautiful blossom trees here at West Street which are loved by both staff and children alike. With this in mind we have decided to plant our own flowers and vegetables so that we can watch them grow more closely.

We have had a go at cress seeds, these have grown quickly and we can see the results already. We have also planted a sunflower seed each which we are hoping to send home at the end of this half term when it will be ready to be planted in a larger pot or in the garden. As a slightly more long term project we have planted broad beans and have started off our own seed potatoes, carrots to follow! We are hoping that we will be able to try the fruits of our labour in class. The children were all hoping for mash!
