It has been a very very busy few weeks at Forest School. First of all, Ms James and Miss Brown went off to Ormskirk to do their forest school assessments; where they had to cook, use tools, light fires and show lots of skills to be able to use with children. Luckily, they both passed all of their training and then came back to lead Year 2’s forest school sessions for 6 weeks. Tomorrow will be our last session of this school year – and what an amazing time we have had! This term, year 2 have done lots of outdoor crafts and games, built fires, used sharp tools (including bushcraft knives) and learnt lots of new things about the forest environment. Everyone will be sad to wave goodbye to the forest tomorrow when we finish for the term. Luckily, there might be some river paddling involved as the weather is so beautiful at the moment. Miss Brown and Ms James are so proud of the children’s resilience this term and their incredible bravery when learning new skills.
All of this year’s forest experience has been with humble thanks to YOUNG LANCASHIRE, who provided all the funding for these sessions to go ahead. Our children have valued so much from this and there have been non stop smiles all round!
