Year 5 have been focusing on the propaganda which was used during World War 1.

We found out that Lord Kitchener (The Minister of War) needed lots of men to join the British army in order to beat the enemy. He ordered 12,000,000 posters to be published, encouraging men to join up. Some of the posters tried to scare people into joining the army, some tried to make men angry and want to take revenge and some played on patriotism.

During our topic lesson this week, year 5 have been emulating one of the posters used, on the computer. By using images from the internet, combined with cropping and covering, the children were able to create remarkable likenesses.
