This morning, Mrs Burtoft introduced the children from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 to their new topic for this half term – Bird’s Eye View.
The challenge the children have been set is to create a series of walks around Colne and surrounding areas that visitors to Colne might be able to use! The children have been given Ordinance Survey maps and compasses to use in order for them to be able to make a useful and accurate route for people to follow.
Year 1 and year 2 must produce a walk from school into Colne town centre.
Year 3 and year 4 must produce a walk from Ballgrove Park to Wycoller using a plan and an Ordinance Survey map.
Year 5 must produce a walk from Colne town centre out to the surrounding moors using an Ordinance Survey map.
Year 6 must produce a walk in the surrounding moorland using an ordinance survey map.
This is sure to be a fantastic topic and the children are in for some interesting and exciting learning!
