What a cracking day we’ve had!
Today, year 4 have been finding out about animal welfare in the UK. Mr Smith brought his pet chickens into school to show the children how to look after them and let the children have come hands on experience of them.
The children found out about how eggs are produced and sold in supermarkets. The children investigated the difference between battery hens, barn hens and free range hens. They produced posters to encourage people to buy free range eggs and chicken and try to persuade people to not buy eggs from caged/battery hens.
They also found out about different foods which can be made from eggs and are really simple to make. These included scrambled eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs, poached eggs and omlettes.
An eggciting day was had by all!
