Goldilocks and The Three Bears

Date: 1st Jul 2022 @ 10:55am

For our Traditional Tales topic, we learnt about Goldilocks and The Three Bears. The children enjoyed listening to the story and retelling the story afterwards. The children worked together in small groups, pretending to be a character, acting out the story. The children showed good recall and enjoyed re-enacting the story during continuous provision.

Baby bear still doesn’t have a chair! The children worked hard to construct baby bear a new, sturdy, comfy chair from the Lego. They were very colourful and every part of the chair had a purpose; “this is for a drink” and “baby bear can rest his feet there” – I’m sure baby bear would be very happy to receive these.

Who ate Miss Jackson’s porridge? Investigating the crime scene! Reception class have become detectives as our classroom has become a crime scene. The children helped the three bears and investigated all the evidence left at the crime scene – who has been and what did they come for? Evidence left at the crime scene included, empty porridge pots, a red shoe, headband and a broken chair.

Other activities included: making porridge with our choice of topping, organising bears; old and new, positioning the bear, teddy bears picnic, writing invitations to invite our bears and going on a bear hunt outside.
