Year 6 2022 - 2023
Miss Reed
Welcome Year 6!Welcome to our class page!Year 6 is a crucial year as it is where children begin to prepare themselves for High School and gain extra responsibilities throughout the school. Myself, Mrs Graham and Mrs Jenkinson are excited to be in Year 6, as it is a special year where we will make lots of life-long memories! As the final year of primary school, Year 6 is extremely important as we prepare for SATs and moving on to secondary school. It is vital that your child tries their best and has a positive attitude towards their learning if they are to achieve their potential. It is also important that you encourage and support your child with their learning and by keeping in contact with me regularly to ensure we are doing everything possible to help them make the maximum progress.
RewardsEvery Friday, we have a celebration assembly where we are able to celebrate the various achievements of children throughout school. Each week, 2 children are chosen as 'Learners of the Week' and recieve a special certificate and a mention in the weekly newsletter. We also choose 1 'Reader of the Week' who has stood out for the effort in reading either in school or at home that week - they also receive a special certificate and a mention in the newsletter. Across school we use the Class Dojo system for rewarding children. Children may receive Dojo Points for their work, manners, being a good friend and a host of other great things. Make sure you sign up for the Class Dojo App so you can see how your child is doing! Dojo Points are added together and allow children to work towards the Planet Awards! Each planet in the solar system represents a total of Dojo Points beginning with 100 Dojo Points for Mercury, 250 Dojo Points for Venus, 450 Dojo Points for Earth etc...
Key things to know about our class...Our P.E lessons are on a Monday and a Friday. Please ensure your child has full P.E kit in school all week. Home learning is given out on a Friday and is to be returned the following Thursday. It would be beneficial if children practise TT Rockstarz, Spelling Shed and Numbots regularly. Book bags should be brought into school every day including the reading record.
