Trips & Visits

As part of our wider offer and our determination to provide a wealth of opportunities for our pupils we plan for as many educational trips and visitors as possible. Having our minibus, named by the children as Tim, we are able to offer more trips and participation in events with a lower cost to parents.
 

Through their time at West Street we commit to providing the following as a minimum entitlement:

Theatre trips
Residential opportunities; camping, YHA, hotels
Visits to a range of religious buildings
Outdoor learning including team building
Use of the local community facilities / environment eg Colne library / Wycoller / Cenotaph
A visit to contrasting localities; seaside, mountains, city
Art galleries and musical events – both listening and performing
Links with other educational establishments

This is just a minimum example of our activities and staff will look for every chance to enhance learning through visitors coming into school, such as the emergency services, theatre companies, musicians and trips away from school.

Here are some examples of the events from last few years:

Tim’s Trips

We run these using our minibus and they usually take place at a weekend. They are aimed at those children on “all green” for behaviour, attitude, uniform, effort. The trips aim at widening the children’s experiences.

The last one was to Bolton Abbey with Mrs Burtoft’s dog “Woof”!
