Spelling
Spelling is a crucial part of the curriculum and requires plenty of repetition in order to perfect. Each week the children are taught a new spelling rule and then are given time to learn and practice these spelling games using a range of activities and games that meet all learning types, I really encourage you to try some of these games at home to help your child. This is directed through the ‘No Nonsense Spelling’ scheme. Part of the National Curriculum has a list of ‘Common Exception Words’ for both Year 3 and Year 4. We will be practising these in class but also sending home this list for weekly spelling practice as these often do not follow the spelling rules taught so far and therefore require further practice. I would really encourage parents to take the time and practice these with their children. |
